Our Doctors
Each of the providers at Dentistry for Children have earned their dental degree (DDS) a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Masters Degree (MS or MSD). Earning a masters degree requires extra time and effort and denotes a more rigorous course of study for someone graduating from a pediatric dental program. Each of our providers completes continuing education courses well beyond the minimum required and strives to maintain the most up-to-date knowledge base on pediatric methods, materials and procedures.
Dr. Michael Becker
I grew up in Bremerton and then went to the University of Washington
earning a degree in Psychology. After returning to Bremerton I was
coaching gymnastics with children who were excited to go to the
Dentist. This was a strange concept for me, but after meeting Dr.
Fogle, who founded “Dentistry for Children”, and seeing his office I
understood why. I was so impressed with his office’s approach towards
children that I decided to become a pediatric dentist. I returned to
the University of Washington for nine more years. There I earned my
dental degree, master’s degree and specialty certificate in pediatric
dentistry. I then returned to Bremerton and joined Dentisty for
Children in 1998.
Dr. Katrina Hays
Hi, my name is Dr. Katrina Hays. I have been with Dentistry for
Children since 2002. I grew up in Indiana, the middle of 5 children,
attended college in Fort Wayne and graduated from dental school at
Indiana University in 1993. Wanting to "see the world" I joined the
Navy, and upon graduation began serving my first tour near San
Francisco California. It was a slight culture shock to say the least,
but I liked it. My next tour was in Italy, which I liked even better.
The Navy then sent me to the University of Washington to become a
Pediatric Dentist. From there I was assigned to a tour in Okinawa, also
a wonderful experience.
I left the Navy at the completion of my tour and moved to Kitsap County. I love the area, the people and recreational opportunities available to the residents of the peninsula. My own interests include cooking, gardening, fishing and caring for my daughter who we adopted from China.
My professional affiliations include membership in the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Kitsap Dental Society and the Seattle Pedodontic Study Club.
Dr. Jeff Hays
Greetings, I am Dr. Jeff Hays and started with Dentistry for
Children in 1996. I am a Northwest native, growing up in Bellevue and
graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Zoology
in 1979 and a dental degree 4 years later. I grew up the oldest of 4
children all fairly close in age. I was commissioned in the Navy dental
corps a few days after graduation and moved to San Diego to enter a
general practice residency. I subsequently served tours in the Far
East, Europe and Seattle. Between tours, the Navy sent me to The Ohio
State University to become a Pediatric Dentist.
I had always planned on returning the the Northwest and when an opportunity arose in Bremerton. I left active duty and moved to Kitsap County. I maintained my military affiliation by joining the reserves and continue to enjoy my association with the Navy.
I love living in Kitsap county and serving the families of this region. I have 3 children, two who are on their own and one recent addition we adopted from China. My interests include running for fitness, playing percussion, fishing and spending time with my family.
Professionally I am Board Certified in our specialty and an affiliate faculty member at the University of Washington school of Dentistry, I am a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Kitsap Dental Society and the Seatte Pedodontic Study Club.
